Changi Refugee

hihi.

the airlines are all overbooked, but i've finally managed to buy a SIA tix to Istanbul on the black market.

the girls are chasing hot on my heels. they have already went through my parents' house. its scary.

the ammonia smell seems to be wearing off, the Singapore Girls are looking at me, and I'm uncomfortable. First thing I'm doing after reaching Instanbul is to douse myself with a thick shower of ammonia....

if i failed to update soon, please. pray for my dear soul.

The Fugitive

UPDATE!: For the slower readers, you should click the links in this entry and explore the websites. then you will hv an idea what I'm writing about.

I have to rush this entry as it is no longer safe.

I'm hunted.

they all flocked to me... Posted by Hello
~~

A few weeks ago, I saw the website. I laughed at it. And as a joke, i ordered some online.
It was delivered to my place barely 3 weeks ago.

it came with a warning letter. In bold.
that i was to spray very lightly and 4 hrs before venturing out of my doors, for the effects to be diluted.
there is even an axe-wearer handbook.

but nooooooo, i choose to laugh at it.
i sprayed it all over.

now i regret it deeply.
~~

it started off innocently enough. 3 models sharing an appartment in my area approached me and asked me out.
they said they wanna know more abt insurance and investment.

obviously, men were created with enough blood ONLY for 1 head.

so i failed to think why in the world 3 models would approach me.
~~

so i went to their place, with my forms and laptop for work.
then they suggest a movie.

before long, it was a dream came true.
for 2 days.

EXACTLY how many models, air stewardness, "unemployed" friends who "need a place to crash" do these chicks HAVE?

i really need to sleep. and it's too tired to function anymore......
but they just bought a box of viagra....
~~

I've only barely escaped, by climbing down the windows from the 12th storey.

they're still in the kitchen preparing for a hen party. I heard that food is prepared for twenty.
TWENTY!! I HAD TO ESCAPE.

And so i'm packing my bag, and rushing to the airport, doused with tons of ammonia to cover the Axe effect. Hopefully, I will get a tix to a place far far away....
~~

if only i read the handbook earlier

how to run away from girls... Posted by Hello

and so the primary aim is there.

Flu Shot = $20
Typhoid Shot = $17

Combined Hep A & B Screening = $35

Combined Hep A & B vaccination shots = $75 EACH.
(1 dose now, 2 more doses at 1 mth, and 5 mths later)

Subtotal of medical expediture so far (ignoring 2nd and 3rd Hep shots) = $147

After a hefty amt of "investment" in these kiasu medical precautions, the only way I can justify them is when one of my travel mates get sick and I get to laugh at them.

WaRpEd thinks that my doctor is just being plain guai lan for suggesting typhoid

warped: typhoid? we're going europe leh, not some 3rd world countries...
cherub: we are eating street food mah.
warped: still i don't think can get typhoid easily there lor
warped: don't say first, scarli later i tio [translate: later i get infected by typhoid]
cherub: exactly, so let's keep quiet till the trip is over.
warped: i still think your doctor is guai-lan.

oh please oh, let me get my money's worth.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
my friends were stunned that I actually bothered to take medical precautions.
cherub leh, the "come-what-may" guy.
many think that I am getting extremely paranoid due to the nature of my job.
I can't agree more.
I've actually prepared all my life insurance, travel insurance, paper documents of all my savings accounts, deposits and other investments neatly in a large folder.
to repay my parents, if something happens along the way.
i'm becoming such a wuss.
And so the series end.
to the guys at CNA, thank you for featuring me on last mth's program.
thank you mr david.
i have an unexpected pleasant result.
my primary school classmates found me.
:)
its been almost 12 years, and a small group of them have made contact and gathered now and then, but apparently, i've been untraceable.
and then, one fine day, someone was watching CNA, recognised the face (makes u realise how little i changed since primary school) and decided to search friendster for my name.
maybe i shld broadcast all my schools here.
why its expensive to hv a car
1) 1 tyre = $95 (ok, i know i hv been harping on this for toooo long. but hey, just wanna highlight my contribution to the fledging rubber plantations up north u know)
2) bus lane $130
3) speeding fine (20-30 km/h excess) $150. courtesy of redundant.
4) $70 fine for parking next to white line, outside your OWN home. Courtesy of warped.
5) now and then u get a sis that scratched off the paint over a massive area of ur car. exposed metal. paint job = $1000 (Estimated)
6) loose bumper. from same accident. costs = unknown yet.
nowadays, parking is getting more challenging.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

i've just witnessed some incredible bending of rules and power-play.

i'm genuinely impressed. an influential character has opened doors, cleared paths, and guided me to the dark side.

and they all succumbed to the lure too Posted by Hello

witness the power of the dark side, and let Lord Vader reads your mind.
NB, he really read my mind, i tried 4 times liao.

now i truly believe that in success, you need a "gui-ren". or what MM Lee refer to as "guanxi" (connection)

And so the emperor made me Lord. Lord Cherub.

why I have not been blogging

I would like to blog abt bloggers blogging on my blog sites, but i've been hearing too much abt bloggers blogging on other bloggers' blog sites.

I would like to blog abt my job, but there is nothing interesting these few days.

I would like to blog abt financial products in the market, but the market is moving too fast too furious. (lucky draw for POSB's fixed deposits, freebies from OCBC's fixed deposits, Maybank's increased rates, Standard Chartered's new e$aver acc......)

I would like to blog abt my love life, but i realised there isn't any love life.

I would like to blog abt my Europe trip (Turkey, Greece, Czech Republic) but I realised I have more to read than to blog.

I would like to blog abt why I think Channel 8, 5, U should not be under a monopoly and why the rail network should be under 1 monopoly but I concluded that "hindsight is always clearer"

I would like to blog abt why men are so obsessed with sex but I can't answer myself.

I would like to blog abt the harsh penalty of $130, 4 demerit points for bus lane driving, very heavy punishment compared to a speeding fine (20-30km excess) of $150, 6 demerit points, but everyone around me just got slapped with a speeding fine.

I would like to blog abt my uncle's cancer but I'm still a little shaken to put it to words.

I would like to blog abt how unreal and fantasy the pron world is, but I figured most men prefer to be kept in the dark.

I would like to blog abt how lost I am after graduation (unofficially) but I got lost while starting to write.

I would like to blog abt teachers, and how a teacher-to-be realised she shouldn't teach because she lacks passion, but I'm still collecting mini-essays from said parties.

I would like to blog abt how one primary school mate found me on friendster (3 cheers for friendster) and established me with a large group of my primary sch friends (i maintained 0 contact with my pri friends) but I haven't met up with them yet.

The One about Bubblemunche.

The inevitable has happened.

Bubblemunche's blog has done a blogicide.

I have been reading about Bubblemunche ever since mrbrown browned him about the one about Coke in a vacuum flask.
where Eddy Neo (Bubblemunche's name) found out that coke and vacuum flask don't mix.

And in the midst of reading his archives, a statement at the top of his blog grabbed my attention.

Spoiler ahead, for those blissfully in ignorance, you may want to go away.
Shoooo!

~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I bear absolutely no resemblance to Eddy Neo. He is pure fiction. Serious."
I did a few scan through his blog and FAQs, and found out that Eddy Neo is a story. Fiction, but based on the author's past experience.
very interesting.
And I got stuck to his blog.
Its not just his style of writing that amuses and entertains plenty of us, there is something about Eddy Neo that make us reflect and ponder about his life.
I think that more than half of his blogders know he's fiction yet we continue to "oooooh" and "ahhhhh".
We were thrilled when he got attached, for the 1st time.
To the Boon Lay Girl.
His Boon Lay Girl.
The Boon Lay Girl....lookalike. Posted by Hello
Okok. this is gillian cheung, not Boon Lay Girl, but oh well. I don't think Eddy Neo would argue against this pic.
I wonder, when we know that he is fiction, why do we still read his blog? why do we still anticipate every moment of his life? why do we cling on to our hearts in his courtship?
why do we feel sad when he faces dejection over Susie, his dreamgirl? (ironically she became an insurance agent, who ahhhh, asked him out for tea. Hah! don't u despise insurance agents.)
cherub: why do we get so involved with this fiction character?
neofik: because there is an eddy neo in every one of us.
The Oligopoly strikes back
so 3 cinemas, holding the bulk of the market, raises prices together AGAIN.
Did i hear something about Singapore being the most 2nd most competitive economy in the world?
these analysts don't watch movie, pump petrol, take MRT and buses, do they?
The CFEA's chairman, Mr Shaw Vee King, who is also Shaw's managing director, said: 'We are no cartel. All along, as an association, we have implemented price increases when we felt it was timely.'
The Straits Times, April 01, 2005
Ok, 3 operators holding 80% of the market, raising the exact same amount in price, on the same day, in unison..... NOT a cartel.
Coming from the land where casinos are termed "integrated resorts".
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

cartel or no cartel, they're a pretty brunch of smart dudes.

1) Raise the price just before a major blockbuster.
2) Singaporeans whine and swear laying off cinemas forever....

3) and then the major blockbuster comes and everyone has to catch it at the big screens.
4) Everyone adjusts to it, and forgot about the higher price.
5) Repeat.

watch the movie, you must! $9.50 price, you still lan-lan!Posted by Hello

Don't think it will be effective (coz they are not cartel, wad...) but oh well, no harm trying.

Aye! SMRT: Best investment ever!

Record Profit for Fiscal 2004 (ended mar 31): $126.9 million

Return on Equity (ROE) = 24.5 per cent
(my POSB only gives me 0.125 per cent leh)

Only competitor = SBS Transit which btw, also formally applied for an increase in bus and train fares. But they are not a cartel because this is Singapore and there is no cartel in Singapore.

SBSTransit Group Profit Before Tax 2004: $60.125 millions
134.3% improvement over 2003
(Bus and Rail Profits made a 428.1% improvement over 2003)

Alright, maths is boring me.

Hmmm, they need to increase prices to cover increasing oil costs, GST, blah blah (don't understand, so the profit fake one ah?), because they are a private company and need to operate cold-bloodedly efficiently as a private company .

So they are a PRIVATE company that is answerable to their PRIVATE shareholders.

All along, I thought they are handling PUBLIC transport!

The New SAF

Ah, the army chinaware of our times....
who can forget the bulky mess tin which gets blackened and stained after every hot meal...

the old mess tin.... Posted by Hello

And the old mess mug we tucked in our SBO, which gets dirtied with mud and leaves in the jungle. Beside the 1st 3 mths of BMT, who would drink from it?
